Installation
Use an MCP-capable client and connect to the remote BioCosm endpoint at https://biocosm-mcp.fly.dev/mcp.
Claude Code setup:
claude mcp add --transport http biocosm-io https://biocosm-mcp.fly.dev/mcp
For local inspection, the official MCP inspector can be started with:
npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector
Configuration
- Remote transport:
streamable-http - Endpoint:
https://biocosm-mcp.fly.dev/mcp - Authentication: none documented
- No public source repository or source code was found during review; this submission is based on the public BioCosm site and MCP documentation.
Capabilities
BioCosm provides biomedical knowledge retrieval for drugs, diagnostics, targets, companies, and pipeline compounds.
Documented tools include:
search_nodesget_nodeget_writeuplist_by_therapeutic_areaget_company_portfolioget_statsget_staleness_reportget_node_freshnessfind_by_targetfind_by_phasefind_relatedget_pos_scoreget_coverage
The site also documents probability-of-success estimates, writeups with citations, portfolio queries, and coverage/staleness reporting.
Limitations
- BioCosm is an AI-powered, automatically generated research tool; individual facts can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong.
- Coverage is uneven, and missing fields mean data was not populated in BioCosm, not that the real-world value is zero.
- Diagnostic programs are not scored.
- Combination regimens are harder to model.
- Probability estimates are not financial or medical advice.
- Pipeline status is updated periodically from ClinicalTrials.gov and FDA; primary sources should still be checked before acting on any result.
- No public source repository or source code was found for this submission.
